School of Hope

School of Hope (SOH) was founded in 2000 by a group of Afghan Americans living in New York City with the belief that education is the foundation on which Afghanistan’s people will be able to develop the confidence, independence and self-sufficiency they need to restore national prosperity.  SoH has a two-fold mission:

To invest in the future of Afghanistan through fostering education for its children To promote cross-cultural understanding between Afghanistan and other nations.

Through work with local community leaders, SoH currently supports four schools in rural Ghazni province:  the first secondary schools for girls and boys (separate schools) in the Saraub Valley and a secondary boys’ and primary girls’ school in Waghaz.   At the same time, School of Hope has developed a School-to-School program, which facilitates communication between Afghan and school children worldwide.

SoH is working to expand our programs so we are able to support more schools in Afghanistan and to extend our School-to-School program internationally.  Visit the School of Hope website at www.sohope.org for more information as well as photographs of our project schools.
